This weekend, I travelled back to my hometown. While driving, I was looking at the clouds and saw a heart in the sky. The picture above is the picture I took on Friday. What is amazing about this instance of looking at the clouds is that right before I saw this heart, I saw clearly the capital letter “I”. My first thought was that the next word I would see after the heart would be “you,” meaning that the message would be “I <3 you.” My inclination was that God was saying that He loved me and loves this world. Although I never saw the end of this sentence, it made me think of everyone and everything that I love. I love God and Jesus; I love my boyfriend; I love my family; I love the beauty of this world. To me, it is amazing to look up into the clouds when I am feeling down to see an encouraging or funny image and know that God is giving me a sign that everything will be ok and that He has a sense of humor.
When looking at these big, white, fluffy clouds with a bright blue sky, I am happy and thinking positive about life, even without seeing a recognizable shape in the sky. The color and texture of a cloud affect a person’s mood about the day. In this instance, people want to be outside in the sun at the beach. It is overall a good day usually. However when the clouds start to turn grey, people anticipate a storm coming. Their mood changes to not so good. When a storm comes and the clouds are dark grey, people want to be inside and lazy. Their mood changes to feeling lethargic and sleepy. But once the dark storm clouds roll away, people tend to hope for a salvageable sunny day. Once we see a rainbow and the clouds clear or new white clouds stroll through, our hope of good weather is guaranteed.
For the last several days, I have been fascinated with the beauty of the clouds and the deep blue of the sky. My challenge for you all is to look at the sky and see what images you can see in the clouds. If there are no recognizable ones, can you remember an amazing or unbelievable image that you have seen in the clouds? Do these pictures have any significance to what you are facing in life? How do the clouds make you feel? How do the figures make you feel and think about?
I think that what you saw is pretty cool and I can see how something like that can easily make someones day. I have noticed things like that before and its very interesting to stop and look at stuff like that every now and then. However, I have always lived near the beach and I prefer there to be no clouds in the sky because I know that that means it is going to be a sunny day, and that means that I can go to the beach, go out in my boat, or go swimming in my pool.
ReplyDeleteI don't spend enough time looking at the clouds. I can not remember any amazing images but never really try. I believe you can influence your mood by convincing yourself it is a sign. I feel this can be done with almost anything though. These cloud figures have had no relevance to my life so far. However they could be relevant in the future.
ReplyDeleteI used to play that game in the car as well. I do believe in signs from God in nature and things around us to help us when we are feeling down or to just remind us things will be okay. I can't say that i remember seeing any shapes that have impacted me. I also think that the weather has a tendency to dictate people's moods. If it is rainy, people are angry and in a hurry everywhere, but if it is sunny and warm everyone seems relaxed, taking in the sun, and in no particular rush to get somewhere.
ReplyDeleteMy best friend from camp and I used to spend almost an hour every day cloud watching outside our cabin during rest hour. We'd sneak out to the field and lay there just trying to pick out shapes. It's funny, I don't remember any particular shapes or clouds that stood out to me. But, I do remember how special that time with my friend was. Cloud watching will always make me smile, thinking of the times that we'd lay in the grass, watching the sky.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved looking out at the clouds and I have noticed that not only do they affect my mood, but everyone’s around me. There was one particular cloud that I can remember, but it wasn’t as beautiful as yours, but more funny. I was sitting in one of those lame blow- up pools, that are only a foot deep, with my little brother when we saw a cloud that looked like a whale with its mouth open and right in front of it was a tiny cloud that vaguely resembled a fish. We just laughed about it because it was funny, and it’s a fond memory of mine, but I’ve never seen something beautiful like that in the clouds.
ReplyDeleteWell i just looked outside and couldn't find a cloud in the sky. I remember playing this game as well when i was a child but there is no image that i can precisely remember. i believe that your mind will see what it wants you to see; meaning that it will form the clouds into anything that your thinking consciously or sub-conciously. I see similarities between looking at the clouds and the coffee stain strategy as practiced by psychologists and psychiatrists.
ReplyDeleteClouds are so awesome. Ever since I was a kid I have always marveled at them. I love how there are different kinds at different altitudes and how they look so fluffy and ethereal. When I was a little kid I swear I saw superman's face. The cumulus clouds kind of twirled like his hair and I could see a face in the cloud beneath it. Also, I was with my friend Marshall the other day and I saw an amazing cloud formation that had every shade of color in a cloud. It was very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at the clouds in the sky when I was little. My mom always encouraged me to have a large imagination and wherever I looked I saw something new. It’s so cool how when you see something in the cloud its your own personal image. Sometimes what you see can be completely different from what other people see. It might blow away in an instance but it’s comforting to think that it could be a sign or remind you of something pleasant. That cloud shaped like a heart was sweet and maybe it meant that somebody was thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteEverytime there are some clouds in the sky, i try to see if i can recognize anything in them. One time i clearly remember laying in the grass with my sister and we were arguing about what the clouds made. There were some good times.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up I loved looking up to see what kind of images I can find, as time went by I stopped doing this of course. But now sometimes I can just sit and look up, not trying to find any images in particular but just because I feel that I can relax and clear my mind.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, when I go outside on a nice day the last thing I pay attention to is how the clouds look. I'm too busy focusing on the fact that we actually have a nice day in Tallahassee and it's not too hot or too cold and its not overcast or rainy. I just like to appreciate the fact that we have a nice day where the weather is perfect.
ReplyDeleteOne time while staring at the clouds, I saw a cloud that was colored like a rainbow. It was so cool and i was so curious as to how it happened. There was no rain so there was no rainbow or anything. I was super cool and I am so glad i saw it!
ReplyDeleteI love looking up at the sky. The sunny, bright days always make me happy, and somehow make everything else better. Dark days tend to make me feel somber sometimes. In the past, I have seen clouds in the shape of elephants. I love their dimensions and wish I could touch them. I have noticed how some people step out of their houses without ever looking up at the sky. I always look up, I notice the moon, the stars, and the clouds.
ReplyDeleteI loved looking at cloud shapes when I was younger. I don't really do it much now. I would always see animal shapes. I don't think there was/is any significance with the shapes and my life. It's just your imagination seeing the shapes. Looking at the clouds relaxes me, its a good time to just think and clear your mind.
ReplyDeleteI always like to watch clouds on long road trips to. One day I swear I saw a giant pirate ship in the sky but no one ever believes me. My family always teases me about how excited my reaction was to seeing that cloud on our trip to the Grande Canyon.
ReplyDeleteIt is really rare that I watch clouds. For the most part I watch them during road trips or if I'm laying in a field somewhere. I am happy to day, without fail, every time I see something interesting in the clouds. It's never anything significant; just objects, animals, etc.

ReplyDeleteI remember one time being in the car while my mom was driving and seeing a cloud that resembled a dachshund dog. My grandparent's own a dachshund, and right now I miss them a lot so im assuming that is its significance. Looking at the clouds is very peaceful and it makes my day calm down and I enjoy watching them very much.
ReplyDeleteI actually have a journal back at home of pictures that I have taken of clouds that looked like actual object living and non-living. I would take the picture and then print it off and write what I think that the cloud was trying to represent to me. I also have a "dream-scape" journal that records all of the abstract and vivid dreams that I have had since I was very young. To this very day I can still remember a strange dream I had when I was six or seven and I wrote it down to make sure I would never forget it. I always picture that these dreams I have are some kind of "sign" that only I can explain in my own interpretation.
ReplyDeleteI used to try and find significance in the clouds as a child but as I grew older I guess I just became a bit cynical. The clouds and sky are amazingly beautiful; I took a lot of pictures of above when I was younger. Back when I had just discovered photography in a serious manner, the sky was pretty much all I took pictures of. Then, for some reason, it just lost its luster. It became more of an equal rather than a place I longed to capture. Most of my photography had changed to focus on the smaller of objects or scene not looked at as generally beautiful. Overall, I know where your coming from. But today, I'll I see in the sky are clouds.
ReplyDeleteI remember playing this game as a child, watching all the clouds go by and seeing if we spotted anything. Sometimes we did, sometimes we didn't. Usually, the things I would see and what others saw were completely different. Now a days, I don't really look at clouds for a specific purpose in seeing something. I’ll usually look up at the sky, see how beautiful the day is and it will relax me.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing a cloud shaped like Pumbaa from the Lion King when I was really little, but I'm sure I recently saw Lion King and that really influenced that... But I love clouds, they are really beautiful to look at. I still look at the clouds when its about to storm and the thunder heads are starting to expand. If you watch them, you can see the top of the cloud getting higher and higher which I love. I don't usually look at clouds for shapes anymore. Now I just look at the cloud and watch it get pushed across the sky by wind or expand before a storm because I find it really beautiful and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember any specific cloud formations, but i have seen many cool and interesting ones. The images in the clouds have never pertained to my life. Just interesting ways the clouds form together. The images the clouds form just make me think of what they are forming. Clouds don't make me feel any particular way i just enjoy looking at them from time to time and they are pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like clouds, but I don't particularly think they are trying to tell me anything. At times I have found them to form a certain shape or look like an object, but I believe that this is only coincidence. I think clouds are beautiful, especially at sunset, but I definitely don't think that they hold personal life meaning.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing the image of a lion in the clouds a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was just my imagination that was making me see the image of the lion, until my brothers noticed the same thing. It was indeed, without a doubt, a lion, detail for detail, in the clouds. It was amazing. Clouds don't really make me feel like anything; I just look at them and admire them as another form of nature's beautiful wonders.
ReplyDeleteI remember riding in the car to Disney with my parents and brother and me and him would sit in the back seat and loo at the clouds and always find Disney characters "hidden" in the clouds. I love clouds, but only when they don't bring rain. I think they are a way for us to look for what we need to see to make us feel better.
ReplyDeleteI cant remember and cool cloud formations that i have seen in my life but i know i have seen many. As a child growing up on a 5 acre grove I spent everyday outside until the sun went down. Becuase of this I was always looking at the clouds. I used to lay out on the grass in my front yard with my dogs and just look at the sky. Clouds dont evoke any particular emotions out of me. Im not the kind of person that gets depressed when its raining and grey, honestly i love those days. But i love sunny days even more. I guess I am happy regardless of the clouds. Other things change my mood.
ReplyDeleteWhen my dad, sister, and I were driving back from a car dealership during our Christmas break we saw the neatest shape in the sky. I was about 8 or 9 and My sister and I swear we saw a cloud that looked like Santa's sleigh and reindeer. My dad even confirmed it. It was only a small cloud and the wind soon broke it apart. We all still remember it to this day as one of the coolest Christmas events to happen.
ReplyDeleteClouds are some of the most relaxing things to both think about and watch. But, the clouds I see never quite match the emotions I have on any particular day; then again, it could be that I just never thought of it. But, the figures that could be made out in the clouds always does brighten my day, especially when it begins a debate on exactly what figure it is with a friend.
ReplyDeleteNow a days I don't look up at the clouds very often, but I can remember spending time when I was younger looking up at the clouds on summer days. I can't remember any specific character that I've seen in the clouds, maybe a dinosaur or a giraffe. I just remember enjoying the interesting shapes and patterns that you might see in the clouds on a summer day in Florida.

ReplyDeleteI always enjoy trying to spot things out in the sky as well. I pretty much just make stuff up, but I do see all sorts of images in the sky. Looking at clouds in the sky makes me just think about life beyond earth!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved to look up at the sky and see what shapes a can make of the clouds up above me. Most times I can make something from the sky. Most of the times when I look at the clouds I end up seeing animals. Maybe that's a normal thing who knows. Whenever I do have the time to just stare up at the sky I noticed it always puts me in a great mood. Every once in a while you have to sit back and enjoy the little things

ReplyDeleteJust like most kids, I used to look at clouds and make shapes out of them. The most significant one I ever saw was a cloud that resembled my grandma only a few months after she had passed way. Even though this happened when I was only 8 years old, I still clearly remember this occurrence and probably will for as long as I live.
